The opening of the Handball World Cup in Cairo

Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi gave the signal for the opening of the World Handball
Championship, in its 27th historic edition, with the participation of 32 teams
for the first time, which Egypt is organizing from January 13 to the 31 of The same month.

During his speech at the opening ceremony, President El-Sisi stressed that organizing a handball
championship in Egypt is a message of coexistence with the Corona pandemic,
stressing that the world has become able to coexist with the new situation
imposed by the Coronavirus pandemic, and able to overcome crises.

Hassan Mustafa, President of the International Handball Federation, confirmed that Egypt chose the most
difficult scenario and organized the World Handball Championship, stressing
that all precautionary measures have been taken, and I am sure that any risks
affecting the tournament will be reduced.

He added: “Egypt is the light for this tournament and the global organization, and we will send a
message of success to the world from that tournament, and during my time as
president of the Hand Federation for 20 years and two months, hundreds of world
championships were organized, but if we had gone anywhere in the world, what
was accomplished in Egypt would not have been achieved.” To organize that

He concluded, “It will be a historic tournament because all the international federations have suspended their
activities, and thus the spotlight will be on Egypt in organizing the
tournament.”
