Hand World Cup: Ahmed Al-Ahmar leads Egypt to victory over Russia

The Egyptian handball team defeated its Russian counterpart by a score of 28-23, in the first major round matches of the World Handball Championship, which will be held in Cairo until January 31.

The Egyptian national team performed well in the match, which was attended by Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Hassan Mostafa, President of the International Handball Federation, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education, and Hisham Nasr, President of the Egyptian Handball Federation.

The Egyptian national team appeared very well during the events of the first half, led by Ahmed Al-Ahmar and goalkeeper Mohamed Al-Tayyar.

In the second half, the Pharaohs continued to gain control over the course of the match, amid attempts by the Russian Federation to return to the meeting and reduce the difference, but the Pharaohs were able to end the meeting with a difference of 5 goals.

Ahmed Al-Ahmar, captain of the Egyptian national team, was also awarded the best player award in the match, after the distinguished level that he showed throughout the match.

The Pharaohs of the Hand decided the result of his match by winning the score (28-23) in the first round in Group D in the main round of the World Championship, which includes Sweden, Slovenia, Belarus, and Macedonia.

The Egyptian national team is scheduled to meet on Friday at 7 pm with its Belarusian counterpart, before meeting Slovenia next Sunday at the end of the main round, at 7 pm.
