Tavares’s hattrick gifts Al Faisaly their first Kings Cup title

Al Faisaly managed to clinch their first Kings Cup title after defeating Al Taawoun 3-2 on Thursday in the final game. 

Al Taawoun took the lead in the 14th minute as Lendr Tawamba netted the opener from a brilliant header. 

Tawamba converted his teammate’s cross into the back of the net to give his team the early lead in the game. 

The minutes went on and in the 40th minute, Al Faisaly were awarded a penalty. Júlio Tavares fired the ball from the spot into the back of the net to equalize the score.

Five minutes later, Al Taawoun were awarded a penalty, in which Alejandro Romero bagged it to finish the first half with a 2-1 lead for his team. 

The second half kicked off and Al Faisaly upped their pressure to score the equalizer. 

Tavares was in a good run of form tonight and in the 60th minute, he leveled the score to keep his team’s hopes alive. 

Tavares’s moment of glory came in the dying minutes of the game, as he fired the winner into the back of the net to gift his team their first-ever Kings Cup trophy.
