Milan announce Tatarusanu has tested positive for Covid

Milan have officially announced that backup goalkeeper Ciprian Tatarusanu has tested positive for Covid.

The 35-year-old Romanian shot stopper tested positive following a molecular PCR test carried out at his home. The player is in good health and is now in self-isolation.

Tatarusanu is the latest Serie A player to test positive for the virus and now he’ll be forced to watch Milan’s upcoming match against Roma from home. Three Giallorossi players are also out of the match following positive tests.

The Romanian veteran has made nine appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 810 minutes. In that time, he has conceded 12 goals and kept two clean sheets, coming in when Mike Maignan.

Coach Stefano Pioli will now have to call up a youth goalkeeper for the match against the Rossoneri to provide backup for Maignan, with second choice shot stopper Alessandro Plizzari out following a knee surgery.
