The Italian newspaper (Derby Derby Derby) praised the debut of the Egyptian professional in the Saudi Federation team, Ahmed Hegazy, who led his Saudi team to the first victory in Jeddah Derby in front of the traditional rivals Al-Ahly since 2012.
The match hosted by King Abdullah Stadium in Al Jawhara witnessed Al Ittihad scoring two early goals by its professionals Romarinho and Gary Rodriguez in the 8th and 17th minutes of the first half.
The match witnessed arbitration excitement at the 76th minute of the events of the match when the referee awarded a penalty kick in favor of Al-Ahly after a mistake committed by Ahmed Hegazy, but after returning to the video assistant referee VAR, the referee decided to cancel the penalty kick decision so that the match proceeded on the same result of the first half and Al-Ittihad won its first victory in Saudi Professional League championship this season.
It is noteworthy that Al-Ittihad’s victory is the first for the dean of Saudi clubs in the derby against Al-Ahly since 2012 when striker Nayef Hazazi led Al-Ittihad to win one to nil.
