Ironies of the Saudi League … a team knocks out Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr coaches in one season

The Saudi League clubs are famous for sacking their coaches in the early stages of the season or even before reaching the halfway mark, either under the pretext of poor results or bad performances even if the team is in a strong position

Among the paradoxes of the Saudi Professional League is that coaches of Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr are sacked in the same season after their matches against Damak who are second from bottom with 16 points. What’s more surprising is that this after both coaches have led their teams to title winning campaigns over the last two seasons

Sacking of Al-Nasr coach Rui Vitoria came first after match day 10 as Al-Nassr made their worst start ever to a Saudi Pro League season. The sacking came after Al-Nasr were only able to pick up a draw against strugglers Damak. This left the club no choice but to sack the Rui Vitoria despite winning the King’s Cup and the Saudi Super Cup, also getting the team to the AFC champions league Semi-final where they eventually lost to Perspolis

Damak was also one of the main reasons that Romanian coach Losescu was sacked by Al-Hilal as they suffered their third league defeat of the season at the hands of Damak. The reigning champions had one win in their last 9 matches leaving them in third place with 33 points, 5 points behind leaders Al- Shabab. Furthermore, being ousted from the first round of the King’s Cup c, this left Romanian coach Losescu on the brink of being sacked before the match against Damak. DAMAK gave Losescu and Al HILAL a final Knockout blow securing a historical win and ending the Romanians tenure at the club

Among the ironies of the Saudi Professional League is that the coaches of Al-Hilal and Al-Nasr were sacked in the same season after matches against second from bottom Damak. The dismissal of the Al-Nasr coach first, then the coach of Al-Hilal, and it is also strange that both coaches led their team to achieve the league title within the last two seasons.
