Al Hilal finally back to victories ahead of Riyadh derby

Al Hilal defeated Ettifaq 3-1 on Thursday night in the 19th
week of the Saudi Pro League.

The Saudi giants won the match thanks to Bafetimbi Gomis double and a goal from André Carrillo while Ettifaq’s only goal was scored by Filip Kiss.

The first half ended in a goalless draw despite many attempts from Al Hilal attackers to open the score. In the second half, Al Hilal managed to find cracks in the opponent’s defense
and opened the score in the 58th minute by Gomis, who benefited from Ettifaq’s goalkeeper fault.

Carrillo doubled the score for Al Hilal 15 minutes later with a shot from
inside the box Seven minutes later, Carrillo set up a wonderful cross for Gomis who scored his
second goal in the game and the third for his team.

Al Hilal defender Yasser Al Shahrani touched the ball with his hand inside the box and the referee awarded a penalty for Ettifaq. Filip Kiss converted the penalty to score his team’s only goal.

Al Hilal secured their first win under the new leadership of , Rogério Micale, who succeeded the sacked Răzvan Lucescu.
Al Hilal reached 36 points and they are two points behind the league leaders AlShabab while Ettifaq come sixth in the league table with 27 points.

Al Hilal will face arch-rivals Al Nassr on Tuesday at Mrsool Park in the 20th week of the Saudi Pro League while Ettifaq are set to face Al Fateh earlier on Tuesday.
