Xenia Sports – Jeddah

The newly-promoted Al-Ain team of the Saudi Professional League blew up a heavy surprise when it took Al-Ahly out of the Saudi King’s Cup by beating it in the 16th round of the tournament with a score of 2-0 in the match that brought the two teams together, Thursday at the stadium of King Abdullah Sports City (Al-Jawhara)  in Jeddah, western Saudi Arabia.

Al-Ain will face Al-Nassr in the quarter-finals of the tournament, after the latter defeated Al-Raed 2-0, on Wednesday.

Al-Ain missed a penalty kick in the 28th minute, which was saved by Al-Owais, which was hit by Spain’s Juan Pablo.

Al-Ain continued to dominate in the second half and succeeded in scoring the first goal through Brazilian Jeter Sonning, who succeeded in taking advantage of the Al-Ahly defense mistake to score the first goal for his team in the 64th minute, while Al Ain added the second goal from a penalty kick by Croatian Philippe Bradaric, to end the match with Al-Ain winning with two goals to nil.
