Al Ahly to face AS Vita Club on Saturday in CAF Champions League

The Egyptian giants, Al Ahly are set to face Congo’s AS Vita Club in Matchday3 in the CAF Champions League group stage on Saturday. 

Al Ahly’s head coach, Pitso Mosimane is keen to win the game in order to lead his team to qualify to the second round, especially that the Red Eagles lost their game against Simba SC of Tanzania. 

Tanzania’s Simba are currently at top of group A with 6 points, while both Vita Club and Al Ahly came in second and third places respectively with 3 points, and Sudan’s Al Merrikh are at the bottom of the table. 

Mosimane has announced the team’s squad for their match against AS Vita Club which consisted of Mohamed El Shenawy – Ali Lotfy – Mostafa Shobier – Ayman Ashraf – Mohamed Hany – Ahmed Beckham – Yasser Ibrahim – Mahmoud Wahid – Badr Benoun – Hamdy Fathy – Aliou Dieng – Amr El Soulia – Afsha – Junior Ajayi – Marwan Mohsen – Mohamed Sherif – Walter Bwalya – Taher Mohamed Taher – Hussein El Shahaat. 

Moreover, Al Ahly’s Tunisian defender Ali Maaloul will miss tomorrow’s game due to the hamstring muscle injury, while Hussien El Shahaat will return to the team after his two-game suspension ended.

Al Ahly’s South African coach Mosimane stated that they will face a tough team, but he has full confidence in his players. Also, he stressed that his team is keen to win the game in order to qualify for the quarter-finals.

Mosimane added that he is looking forward to winning the African title for the second consecutive time, as the Red Eagles are the current titleholders. 

Mosimane concluded that the team has many absences, but they will not affect on the team’s performance especially that Al Ahly have a lot of good players. 

On a similar note, Vita’s director of football Depa Yves said that they are ready for the game and all the players are determined to achieve a good result against Cairo giants. 

Yves added that Al Ahly are a great team and they are the African champions, and their recent loss against Simba will make Vita’s mission more difficult, but he has full confidence in his players. 

Also, Vita’s manager Florent Ibengé stated that he is not afraid of facing Al Ahly, as his team is looking forward to defeat the Red Eagles at Cairo.
