The draw for the final rounds of the Emir of Qatar Cup results in strong confrontations for Al Duhail, Al Wakrah and Al Sadd

The draw for the final rounds, which was held today, Monday, resulted in strong confrontations, beginning with the round of sixteen of the Prince’s Cup in its forty-ninth edition of the sports season 2020/2021.

Al-Duhail will meet Al-Ahly, Qatar, and Al-Shamal, and the two winners will meet in the quarter-finals, Al-Wakrah will also play Al-Kharaitiyat and Al-Rayyan with Al-Markhiya, and the winners of the two matches will meet in the quarter-finals as well.

While the two winners of the two quarter-final matches meet in the semi-final round so that the winner qualifies for the final match.

Al-Gharafa will meet Al-Shahaniya and Al-Sadd will play with Muaither in the round of sixteen, and the two winners will meet in the quarter-finals.

Al-Sailiya plays Al-Khor and Al-Arabi meets Umm Salal, and the two winners from these two encounters will also meet in the quarter-finals, with the two winners from the two quarter-final matches playing in the semi-finals so that the winner qualifies for the final match.

The draw took place according to the new system of the tournament, as all teams will start their competitions according to the four stages of the tournament, starting from the preliminary stage to the final match, in which 16 clubs from the first and second classes will participate.

The Emir Cup draw was based on its mechanism on the ranking of the teams and their positions in the Qatari League and the Second Division League for the last season 2019-2020, where the participating teams were classified into two levels, the first level included the first eight teams in the final standings of the league competitions for the 2019-2020 season, which are the teams of Al Duhail, Al Rayyan and Al Sadd. Al-Gharafa, Al-Sailiya, Al-Wakra, Al-Arabi, and Qatar.

While the second level included the teams ranked from ninth to twelfth place in the Qatar Stars League, namely Al-Ahly, Umm Salal, Al-Khor, and Al-Shahaniya, with the first three-ranked teams of the second-division league for the 2019/2020 sports season, namely Al Kharaitiyat, Al Markhiya, and Al Shamal teams in addition to To the qualified Muaither team from the preliminary match that was held between the fourth and fifth place holders of the second division.

The round of sixteen matches are scheduled to start at the end of January and will be held according to the tournament list with knockout and without additional games, as the two tie teams will resort to penalties immediately after a draw in the original time, and the full match schedule, including the tournament stadiums, will be announced later.
