A number of Zamalek fans and members of the club’s general assembly organized a protest against the decision of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi, the Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports, to suspend and dissolve the club’s board of directors headed by Counselor Mortada Mansour.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports had announced earlier that the Administrative and Financial Inspection Committee had discovered a large number of violations within the Zamalek Club, which calls for the dissolution of the Board of Directors, and its transfer to the Public Prosecution.

Many members of the club showed solidarity with the ousted president of Zamalek, Mortada Mansour, and demanded his return to head the club, for fear of a repeat of the scenario of what happened in 2005, and it lasted for 9 years, during which the club’s cases were being discussed in the sports courts, and the results of the sports teams inside the club collapsed.

The Egyptian security intervened, dispersing the stand of the fans and members of Zamalek, and demanded everyone to respect the state’s decisions issued by the Ministry of Sports, especially since the Egyptian judiciary will be the body responsible for proving all violations or acquitting all officials against whom suspension decisions were issued by the administrative body.

Mortada Mansour had also been subjected to a harsh decision, after the Egyptian Olympic Committee headed by Hisham Hatab issued a decision punishing him with a four-year suspension after he directed insults, slander, and transgressions against a large number of sports figures, headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, President of Al-Ahly, Hani Al-Attal, Mamdouh Abbas and a number Another of the officials.
