The Tunisian Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs announced the intention of the Tunisian Football Federation to hold a plenary session to re-debate the penalty imposed on the Hilal Al-Shabba club

The Tunisian Ministry of Youth and Sports stated in an official statement on Friday that the file will be submitted to the clubs ’vote, on the condition that the teams initiate this request.

The statement included that the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs Kamal Daqish held a meeting with the president of the Tunisian Football Association, Wadih al-Jari, and the president of Hilal al chebba, Tawfiq al-Mukasher, at the ministry’s headquarters.

The Tunisian Football Association had previously decided to exclude Hilal Al-Shabba club from the league competitions during the new season, due to non-payment of some financial belongings during the recent period.

Hilal Al-Shabba went up to the Tunisian League last season and finished 11th in the table to ensure survival before the Tunisian Federation decided to exclude him.

The federation decided to hold a four-way tournament between the Kairouan Youth Club and Hammam El-Anf clubs, despite their relegation to the second division, and the Qafsa and Olympic Sidi Bouzid in the second class to determine the replacement of Hilal Al-Shabba.

Tawfiq Al-Mukasher, president of Hilal Al-Shabba club, had stated that the decision is a dangerous precedent in the history of Tunisian football, stressing that it stems from a process of settling accounts led by Wadih Al-Jara, president of the Tunisian Football Federation, against the club against the background of personal conflicts.

The past season in Tunisia witnessed tensions between the president of Hilal Al-Shaba and the president of the Tunisian Federation, which reached the point of accusing the latter of favoring the capital’s teams, similar to Tunisia’s Esperance Sports.

Hilal al chebba fans had protested against what the Tunisian Union had done and burned rubber wheels in front of security centers and blocked roads leading to the city of Al-Shaba.
