The Resurgence of Al Ittihad

Al Ittihad were in a good form during the previous season, as they managed to book their qualification ticket for the AFC Champions League next season after cementing themselves in the third position in the Saudi Professional League.

The Saudi giants failed to qualify to the AFC Champions League for two years, despite that they have a great record by winning two consecutive titles. However, they could not stay down forever, as they became a legitimate top-four threat.

Having already a good and impressive season, Al Ittihad also managed to set some brilliant records.

Al Ittihad finally managed to defeat Abha in the Saudi Professional League for the first time after 13 years. The last time Al Ittihad came out victorious was during 2008/2009.

Al Ittihad also won their first derby after 8 years, as they managed to defeat Al Ahli 2-0. The last time Al Ittihad came out victorious in the derby was in 2012. The Saudi giants kept their impressive performance also against Al Hilal.

The Saudi giants have proved themselves this season and secured their first win against Al Hilal since 2017/2018 season.

However, despite their impressive form, Al Ittihad failed to defeat Al Faisaly this season. Al Ittihad’s last victory over Al Faisaly was in 2016, as the Pride of Sudair managed to keep their unbeaten run against Al Ittihad alive.
