Arabian Gulf League: Baniyas’s comeback takes the center stage

Emirati gaints Baniyas sealed an important victory tonight at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium, as they defeated Al Ain 2-1 in the Arabian Gulf League. 

Al Ain’s Kodjo Laba scored the opener in the 4th minute to give his team an early lead. 

However, Baniyas pulled an impressive comeback as Sultan Al Shamsi equalized in the 51st minute, while Joao dos Santos scored the winner in the 78th minute to save his team. 

Following today’s comeback, Baniyas reached 45 points in the second position while Al Ain stayed in the sixth position with 34 points.

Also, Al Wahda thrashed Al Dhafra 3-0 tonight in Matchday 21 of the Arabian Gulf League on Tuesday. 

Al Wahda’s Omar Khribin netted the first goal from a brilliant header in the 31st minute to give his team the early lead. 

Al Wahda kept their dominance in the game as they scored another two goals, thanks to Abdulla Hamad and Tim Matvaz. 

Following today’s win, Al Wahda reached 32 points in the eighth position while Al Dhafra stayed in the eleventh position with 20 points.

On a similar note, Al Nasr clinched three important points after defeating Al Ittihad Kalba 2-1 at Al Maktoum Stadium.

Al Nasr took the lead in the 38th minute, as Sebastian Tagliagube bagged the ball in his opponent’s net. However, Al Ittihad Kalba equalized the score in the 54th minute, as a result of Peniel Mlapa’s effort.

Al Nasr leveled up the game in order to score the winner, and in the 88th minute, Glauber netted the winning goal to gift his team three important points. 

Al Nasr reached 39 points in the fourth position while Al Ittihad Kalba stayed in the ninth position with 29 points.
