Al Hilal hammer Al Ahli 5-1 in Saudi Classico

Al Hilal thrashed their arch-rivals, Al Ahli, 5-1 tonight in Matchday 28 of the Saudi Professional League.

Al Hilal dominated the game since its beginning, as Sal El Dousary fired a screamer in the 15th minute to give his team the lead.

15 minutes later, Bafitimbi Gomis doubled the score from a sensational finish. The French striker pressed and snatched the ball, before chipping the ball over the keeper. 

However, the ball hit the post, but Gomis was in the place and time needed to convert it into the net by a classy header. 

The minutes went on and Al Hilal kept their dominance. In the 42nd minute, the Blue Waves were awarded a penalty after Al Ahli’s defender blocked the ball from the empty net by his hand, before receiving a red card.

Gomis completed his brace by netting the ball in the net to finish the first half with a 3-0 lead for his team.

The second half kicked off and in the 65th minute, Al Hilal were awarded another penalty. Saleh El Shahry scored the fourth goal from the spot.

One minute later, Al Ahli’s Abulrahman Ghareb latched a beautiful ball in the net after receiving a long ball to score his team’s only goal in the game.

In the dying minutes of the game, El Shahry completed his brace to make it 5-1.

Al Hilal reached 55 points and cemented themselves at the top of the table, while Al Ahli stayed in the eighth position with 38 points.
