Financial efficiency threatens the winter mercato in the Saudi League

The Saudi Ministry of Sports has threatened Saudi clubs not to register players during the winter transfer period (the Winter Mercato).

And the Saudi Ministry of Sports has obligated clubs in Saudi Arabia to fulfill the conditions of the financial competency program, in order to approve the registration of players in the Winter Mercato.

The Financial Efficiency Program aims to apply the best practices of financial governance, ensure the stability and growth of clubs, and stop the financial waste of Saudi clubs after the recent inflation of debts on Saudi clubs.

The Ministry of Sports has set the Saudi clubs on December 31, the date for payment of the financial obligations due until October 30, 2020, provided that the financial competency certificate will be issued for the clubs due on January 7, 2021.
