Winners and losers in SPL after Gameweek 24

The 24th week of the Saudi Professional League witnessed a lot of surprises , besides the greatest victory in the competition’s history. 

Let’s do a recap of what happened in this thrilling week. 

The winners

Al Hilal:

Al Hilal managed to cement their position at the top of the table after defeating Al Qadsiah 1-0, thanks to a goal from Andre Carrillo.

Al Hilal reached 48 points and managed to move 3 points clear from their nearest opponent, Al Shabab. 

Al Taawoun:

Al Taawoun achieved an important victory over Al Shabab, as they defeated them 3-1.  Al Taawoun jumped to the fourth position with 38 points following this win and are getting close to a qualifying position to the AFC Champions League.

Al Nassr:

Al Nassr stole the show as a result of their historic victory over Al Batin. They thrashed Al Batin 7-0 and managed to set a new record, as they achieved the greatest win in the SPL history. Al Nassr are looking forward to finding a spot in the top four, as they are currently in the fifth position with 36 points.

Al Fateh:

Al Fateh are moving away from the relegation area after their impressive victory over Al Ahli 4-1. Al Fateh jumped to the tenth position with 31st points.

The Losers:

Al Shabab:

Al Shabab dropped more points and lost their leading position in the table after their defeat against Al Taawoun. Al Shabab are currently in the second position, behind Al Hilal with 3 points, which worsened their situation in the league. 

Al Ahli:

Al Ahli set an unwanted record this season, as they conceded five consecutive defeats in the league. Al Ahli are currently at the seventh position with 35 points, as a result of their poor performance. 

Al Ittihad:

Al Ittihad were held to a 1-1 draw against Al Raed. Al Ittihad are losing the title race following this game, as they are currently in the third position with 42 points.

Al Wahda:

Al Wehda are in danger of being relegated, as they lost their sixth consecutive game against Al Ain. Following this defeat, Al Wahda’s manager was sacked due to the team’s poor results.
