Stade Rennais Technical Director Florian Maurice stated that the club’s striker, M’Baye Niang was convinced to join Al Ahli of Saudi Arabia and he pushed the club towards accepting Al Ahli’s offer.
Niang completed his loan move to Al Ahli, just hours before the transfer deadline.
Florian said that Rennes did not force the transfer of any player, adding that the player had several offers from different European clubs but he preferred to join the Saudi Professional League.
Florian added that the club will wait for the player’s loan to end, to decide his future, noting that the player’s move came after a conflict between the player and the club’s head coach, Julien Stephan.
The 26-year-old Niang joined the Saudi giants on a 6-month loan from Stade Rennais.
