The key talking points after Mouminah’s resignation from Al Ahli’s presidency

Abdulelah Mouminah has stepped down from his position as the club’s president on Friday.

Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Faisal, the Minister of Sport, announced that Mouminah has resigned from his position and the club’s presidency elections will be announced on Sunday. 

Mouminah’s tenure was full of difficulties and only lasted for 428 days.

Administrative issues

Al Ahli’s board failed to deal with several administrative issues that affected a lot on the club. 

Under Mouminah, Al Ahli have lost many cases against the team’s former players and among them was Josef de Souza.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport handed the club a €8 m fine to be paid to the Brazilian Player, or the club will face several sanctions. 

Huge dept 

Al Ahli suffered a lot of financial difficulties during the last period as the club’s dept reached SAR 150 m. 

Internal disputes

Several players of the team have criticized the club’s board during the last period. 

The club’s Player and legend, Omar Al Somah, said that the club’s board did not support the team enough to win the Saudi Professional League title. 

Also, the team’s former coach, Vladan Milojević, said that the club’s hierarchy did not reinforce the squad with the players he wanted, and that affected a lot on the team’s performance. 

Setting unwanted records

During this season, Al Ahli set several unwanted records. 

They made the worst losing streak in the club’s history as they were defeated in six consecutive games.
