Sun Downs reveals the reason for the failure of Gaston Sereno’s joining Al-Ahly deal

Xenia Sports – Cairo

South African club Sun Downs revealed the reason for the failure of the Uruguayan transfer deal, Gaston Sereno, to Al-Ahly club, during the last transfer window, despite the strong negotiations between the two clubs, in light of the desire of Betso Mosimani, the coach of the Cairo team, to sign the player.

Yogesh Singh, a contracting official at Sun Downs Club, said that Al-Ahly made a financial offer that was not appropriate for the club, or the player who is considered one of the most prominent talents in the South African team, indicating that the player’s departure was rejected due to financial matters.

He added, that Gaston Sereno’s deal with Al-Ahly was not completed, and the Sun Downs management refused the offer made because it did not meet their financial demands, to sign the best player in the South African League, indicating that Al-Ahly was unable to make the offer that everyone expected inside the club.

Ujesh explained that Al-Ahly or any other club wants to include players from Sun Downs to follow the right official path, and to communicate with them directly, for the sake of negotiations.

For his part, Sayed Abdel Hafeez, director of football at Al-Ahly club, revealed that the negotiations with Sereno and Sun Downs Club have already stopped, and the door to negotiations will not be rushed again in January, and there are still other options to strengthen the ranks of the team crowned with the African Champions League title.

He added that Al-Ahly wanted to include Sereno, but the deal may completely fail, in the event that the Uruguayan player participates with Sun Downs in the 32 round matches of the African Champions League, which will deprive the player of his efforts in the continental championship.

Al-Ahly was seeking to join Sereno, in order to strengthen its ranks to preserve the Champions League title, which it was crowned for the ninth time in its history, and the player wanted to join the ranks of the Cairo giant, who will participate in the 2021 Club World Cup in Doha.
