Pyramids edge closer to CAF Confederation Cup semis, Raja draw in South Africa

Pyramids thrashed Nigerian side Enyimba 4-1 on Saturday in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals.

Pyramids pulled an impressive comeback, thanks to the olimpressive performance of Ibrahim Adel who shined today and fired a sensational brace.

Ramadan Sobhi canceled in the 15thminute an early opener from Nbaoma Chukwuma while veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Said made it 2-1, four minutes after the break and Adel completed the rout on minutes 58 and 66 respectively.

Winger Ramadan Sobhi leveled the score after 14 minutes when he dispossessed the last defender, rounded the keeper to score also in an empty net.

Pyramids FC were on the offence but Ghanaian striker John Antwi failed to make any impact squandering many chances.

Argentinean boss Rodolfo Arruabarrena had to take him off introducing Ibrahim Adel at the break.

The 20-year-old needed only four minutes to make his presence felt. He fed El-Said on the left side of the area whose curling shot went into the bottom of the net of the Nigerian side.

On a similar note, Raja were held to a 1-1 draw against the South African side Orlando Pirates in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals. 

Raja achieved a good result away from their home, which will ease their qualification mission to the semis. 

In the 39th minute of the encounter, Vincent Pule opened the score for the South African team to give them a 1-0 lead. 

The minutes went on and in the 60th minute, Ben Malango levelled the score for the Moroccan side. 

Both teams are set to face each other on May 23 in the second leg in Casablanca.
