Inter ready for decisive Lukaku talks with Chelsea

Inter will have a decisive meeting with Chelsea tomorrow where they’ll negotiate a dry loan deal for Romelu Lukaku.

The 29-year-old Belgian striker is desperate to return to the Nerazzurri only 10 months after his €115m move to the Blues. Lukaku had a tough season in West London, only netting eight goals in 26 Premier League appearances. He also fell out with both the fans and coach Thomas Tuchel after a confusing interview with Sky Sports Italia, where he expressed his love for Inter only months after moving to Chelsea.

La Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inter and Chelsea sit down in a video call tomorrow to discuss Lukaku’s possible return to North Italy.

It’s expected to be a dry loan deal and it’s likely that negotiations will start from a base fee of €15m, much higher than the Nerazzurri’s initial €5m offer. The two parties could meet halfway in order to reach an acceptable agreement.

The call is the same one that was postponed on Friday, when new owner Todd Boehly had to push the meeting back due to other commitments. A deal could be reached as early as next week and it’s key for Inter to close out a deal before the end of the month if they want to take advantage of the Growth Decree law.
