Belgium top in FIFA rankings, AFCON champs Senegal into 18th

Belgium remain top in the latest football world rankings issued on Thursday by the ruling body FIFA, while freshly-crowned Africa Cup of Nations champions Senegal are now 18th.

Senegal rose up two spots from 20th after their Sunday triumph over Egypt who for their part climbed 11 spots into 34th. The biggest risers were surprise quarter-finalists Gambia who moved up 25 into 125th.

With World Cup qualifiers played in other regions outside Europe, Canada and Costa Rica climbed seven each into 33rd and 42nd, respectively.

The top three remained the same with Belgium leading from Brazil and world champions France. Argentina moved into fourth at the expense of England.
