Al Taawoun defeat Al Shabab 3-1 in the SPL

Al Taawoun sealed a 3-1 victory over Al Shabab tonight in the Saudi Professional League and prevented them from cementing their position at the top of the table. 

Al Shabab lost their second consecutive game and are stumbling to keep on in the title race. 

Al Taawoun’s Alejandro Romero opened the score in the 29th minute from a brilliant screamer to give his team the early lead. 

Al Taawoun kept their dominance in the game, and in the 42nd minute, Ahmed Assiri bagged the second goal from an incredible bicycle kick to put his name on the scoring sheet in style.

The minutes ticked by, and Al Shabab tried to return in the game, but all their attempts were blocked by Al Taawoun’s defense. 

In the 67th minute, Al Shabab’s goalkeeper Zaid Al Bawardi produced a crucial mistake that gifted Al Taawoun the third goal, as Leandre Tawamba controlled the ball and bagged it in Al Bawardi’s net. 

In the 91st minute, Al Shabab’s Seba scored his team’s only goal, but the referee blew his final whistle to announce a precious victory for Al Taawoun. 

Following today’s game, Al Taawoun reached 38 points and they are in the fourth position, while Al Shabab became in the second position behind Al Hilal with 45 points.
