Al Shabab defeated Al Ahli 3-0 on Monday in the 20th week of the Saudi Professional League.
Al Shabab opened the score by the team’s defender Ahmed Sharahili after 12 minutes from the start as he received a wonderful cross from the team’s captain Ever Banega.
Al Ahli had a chance to equalize the score after the referee awarded them a penalty but the VAR disallowed the decision.
Another amazing cross from Banega and a sensational header from Alfred N’Diaye doubled the score for the league leaders. Al Shabab’s Argentine striker Cristian Guanca secured his team’s victory after
scoring the third goal, seconds before the final whistle.
Al Shabab’s victory helped them extend their lead atop of the league table to five points with the
second-placed, Al Hilal, who are set to face Al Nassr in the Riyadh derby tonight.
On the other hand, Al Ahli failed to put an end to their poor run in the league as they failed to secure any victory in the last three matches and they are third in the league table with 35 points.
Al Ahli’s arch-rivals, Al Ittihad, have a chance to jump to the third position in the table if they managed to defeat Al Faisaly tonight.
