Al Ittihad defeat Al Taawoun, close the gap at the top

Al Ittihad completed a sensational comeback to achieve
a 2-1 away win over Al Taawoun on Thursday in the 19th week of the
Saudi Professional League.

King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Buraydah witnessed a strong performance
from both teams. Al Taawoun opened the score after 16 minutes from the start by
Abdoulaye Sané who met a wonderful cross inside Al Itttiاad’s area to give his
team an early lead.

Al Ittihad dominated the rest of the first half but they failed to equalize the
score, with their most dangerous chance coming in the 38th minute
but the ball hit the bar.  

In the second half, Al
Ittihad fought back to return to the match and they just needed four minutes to
equalize the score by Romarinho.

Almost 15 minutes later, the visitors added the second goal when Hamed Al
Mansour’s shot hit the bar before bouncing back to Al Taawoun’s goalkeeper who deflected
it into the net for an own goal.  

Al Ittihad’s victory
helped them close the gap at the top of the table as they are six points behind
the leaders, Al Shabab. On the other hand, Al Taawoun are 10th in
the table with 25 points after suffering three losses in a row.

On the other hand, Al Faisaly defeated Damak 2-0 thanks to two goals from Romain
Amalfitano and Júlio Tavares.

Al Faisaly are 12th in the league table with 23 points while Damak
have 16 points, only two points away from the bottom of the table. شبt the hosts in front after
