Al-Ahly decides to take all the players to Doha to participate in the Club World Cup

Sayed Abdel Hafeez, director of the Egyptian Al-Ahly Football Authority, announced that it has been decided to accompany all the team’s players, as part of the official mission preparing to travel to Qatar to participate in the Club World Cup, which will be held in Doha from 4 to 11 February.

Abdel Hafeez said that the decision to accompany all of the team’s players within the official mission came after the amendment to the list of the International Federation of Football Association (FIFA), which gives every team that will be present in the FIFA Club World Cup the right to amend its list 24 hours before the start of the tournament or during the tournament itself. In the event that his players face any force majeure that gives him the right to substitute in his list.

In light of this, he explained, the team’s technical staff, led by Pitso Mosimani, decided to travel all the players as part of the official mission heading to the Qatari capital, Doha, in preparation for participating in the world championship.

Al-Ahly had set the date for travel to Doha on January 28 or 29, and the mission would be headed by Mahmoud Al-Khatib, club president, provided that the trip to Qatar would be on a private plane, as agreed upon with the club’s sponsors.

In a different context, Amir Tawfiq, director of contracts at Al-Ahly Club, announced that the technical staff did not request to strengthen the goalkeeping center during the current winter Mercato, stressing that only the Zambian deal, Walter Bwalya, would be satisfied.

Many public demands demanded that the Al-Ahly club management quickly sign a new goalkeeper, to be a replacement for the main Mohamed El-Shenawy, in light of the complete lack of confidence in the level of Ali Lotfi and the lack of experience of the third goalkeeper, Mustafa Schubert.

Among the most prominent names that were put on the table of  Al-Ahly Planning Committee, Mahmoud Gad was the goalkeeper of Enppi, and Muhammad Bassam, the player of Vanguard of the Army, but the technical staff led by Musimani closed the file completely and decided to suffice with the three currently in the team’s den, rejecting the idea of bringing in any new goalkeeper during The current Mercato.

The same applies to the right-back position, which Al-Ahly suffers from in the recent period, after the departure of Ahmed Fathi at the beginning of the current season to Pyramids, where Musimani rejected the idea of joining Karim Fouad, an Enppi player who was loaned from the stars, in light of financial exaggeration, in addition to the desire of the technical staff in Giving Ahmed Ramadan “Beckham” and Akram Tawfiq the opportunity to participate in this center.
