Agent: ‘lukaku will return to Italy, he spoke to Ronaldo…’

Romelu Lukaku’s agent reveals the former Inter star will return to Serie A one day and confirms he was on the verge of joining Juventus in 2019: ‘He had spoken with Maurizio Sarri and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Lukaku left Inter in the summer after two seasons in Milan, returning to Chelsea in a €115m deal.

His agent Federico Pastorello spoke to Tuttosport newspaper about the striker’s career and what the future has in store for the Belgian star.

“It’s the best player I have, but it’s not the one that I got more easily, Pastorello said.

“I was the architect of Antonio Conte’s move to Chelsea and after the Premier League victory, he wanted Lukaku.

“Romelu was playing for Everton at that time. I met him and told him that Conte would have been the ideal coach for him, but he picked Manchester United.

“After one year, once he had left his previous agent, he called me with a new number. He told me that everything I had told him the first time we met, had become real. So he wanted me to become his new agent.

Lukaku spent two seasons at Manchester United, scoring 28 goals in 66 games.

In the summer of 2019, both Juventus and Inter wanted to sign him, but in the end, the Nerazzurri managed to secure his services and Conte could finally play with the striker he wanted at Chelsea.

“The deal with Manchester United was on hold because Zhang didn’t want to meet United’s demands, Pastorello recalled.

“United had an agreement with Juventus who would have bought Dybala and Mandzukic, Romelu had already spoken to Sarri and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“We managed to convince Zhang to raise the offer and I think his transfer shifted the balance in Italy, will all the respect due to his former teammates.

Lukaku signed a contract until June 2026 at Stamford Bridge, but could he return to Italy one day?

“Yes, Romelu is in love with our country, admitted Pastorello. “But let him enjoy Chelsea now.
