AFC Champions League talking points: Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ahli, no winner in the opener

The AFC Champions League group stage started with a dissapointed performance from Al Hilal, Al Nassr, and Al Ahli as each of them failed to achieve the victory over their opponents.

Al Nassr were held to a goalless draw to Al Wehdat of Jordan, who are participating in the touurnament for the first time in their history.

Following the game, Al Nassr will be looking forward to achieve the victory over Al Sadd of Qatar to cement their position in the group.

On the other hand, Al Hilal failed to defeat Olmaliq in their opening game of the group stage.

As a result of their poor perfomance which they showed in the game, Al Hilal failed to collect three important points against the new comers, Olmaliq, who were satisfied after being drawn against the Saudi giants.

Finally, Esteghlal smashed five goals past Al Ahli at their home ground to increase the pressure on the Saudi team who failed to achieve any win in their last 9 games.

Al Ahli continued their streak of losses even under the team’s new head coach Laurențiu Reghecampf.

Al Ahli’s mission became more difficult, as they will be aiming to win their upcoming game against Al Duhail in order to keep their Champions League dream alive.
