A look at winners and losers in Matchweek 29 of the SPL

Matchweek of the Saudi Professional League witnessed a lot of important events, as Al Hilal have managed to seal their second consecutive Saudi Professional League title.

Moreover, three teams have booked their qualification ticket to the AFC Champions League, so Let’s do a recap of what happened. 

Winners:

Al Hilal:

The Blue Waves managed to defeat Al Taawoun 1-0, thanks to a goal from Bafitimbi Gomis to secure their second consecutive SPL title with a four points gap away from Al Shabab. 

Al Ittihad:

Al Ittihad cemented their position in third place after defeating Al Ain 1-0. Following this important victory, Al Ittihad reached 53 points and sealed their qualification to the AFC Champions League next season. 

Ettifaq:

After thrashing Al Raed 3-1, Ettifaq eye to secure a spot in the top four. They are currently sit in the sixth position with 44 points, three points behind Al Taawoun who are placed fourth.

Damac:

Damac are currently fighting to surge themselves away from the relegation zone. They defeated Al Batin, who are also aiming to avoid relegation and are close to staying in the SPL in the next season.

Losers:

Al Taawoun:

Despite their great performance this season, they missed a great chance to qualify to the AFC Champions League after being beaten by Al Hilal 1-0. Al Taawoun must win the kings cup to book their ticket to the Champions League next season.

Al Nassr:

Al Nassr failed to qualify to the AFC Champions League next season after they were held to a draw against Al Wehda. 

Al Wehda:

Al Wehda are on verge of being relegated after their draw against Al Nassr. Al Wehda are currently sit in the 15th position with 32 points. They are set to face Al Shabab in the final game of this season, where they must gain the three points to avoid relegation.
