A look at the winners and losers in Matchweek 25 of the SPL

The 25th fixture of the Saudi Professional League witnessed a lot of thrilling games and at the top of them was the Saudi Classico. 

The league’s table changed again following this week’s results, so Let’s do a recap of what happened. 

The winners

Al Ittihad:

Al Ittihad managed to achieve a great victory this week, as they managed to defeat their arch-rivals Al Hilal in the Saudi Classico. 

Al ittihad kept pushing on to win the title, especially that they sit in the third position, and they need only three points to get on the top of the league. 

Al Shabab:

Al Shabab sealed three important points after thrashing Al Batin 4-1.

Following this victory, Al Shabab surge to the top of Saudi Professional League with the same amount of points as Al Hilal (48).

Al Taawoun:

Al Taawoun maintained their impressive performance this season and managed to keep their winning streak alive against relegation battlers,  Al Ain. 

Al Taawoun beat Al Ain 3-0 and reached 41 points in the foruth position. 

Al Fateh:

In a thrilling game,  Al Fateh pulled an impressive comeback against Al Batin and managed to achieve a 3-2 victory. 

After this win,  Al Fateh reached 34 points and jumped to the ninth position. 

Losers:

Al Hilal:

Al Hilal failed to cement their position at the top of the table after losing to their arch-rivals in the Saudi Classico. 

Al Nassr:

Al Nassr might fail to qualify to the AFC Champions League next season, especially after their 3-0 defeat against Damac in the SPL.  

Al Nassr are currently in the fifth position with 36 points, 9 points behind Al Ittihad who placed third. 

Al Ahli:

Al Ahli conceeded their sixth consecutive defeat this season in the SPL. 

Al Ahli are currently sit in the seventh position with 35 points, and they have been suffering a lot since the start of the second half of the season.
